Petroleum Engineers
Petroleum engineers begin by analyzing various available data about the oil. Some petroleum engineers exclusively specialize in finding the petroleum oil. The Petrophysical engineers study the rock in which oil deposits are examined to be found. They determine very scrupulously how much oil the rock holds and how easily the oil could move through the rock.
Geological engineers endeavor to map the oil field to determine the size, shape, and volume of the oil deposit. Reservoir engineers utilize computer models to estimate the amount of oil which can be recovered. They monitor closely the amount of oil remaining in a reservoir and re-evaluate the recovery methods.
Other petroleum engineers, called the research engineers, develop and modify the methods and equipment employed in oil production. Some petroleum engineers work in refineries. They determine the optimally best use for products. They check over the makeup of products, technical factors, and market potential. Sales engineers sell equipment and extend technical services to the oil companies and drilling contractors.
