Material Engineers
Materials engineers apply basic science to develop innovative metal alloys, strong ceramics, versatile polymers and modern electronic materials, which are part of our everyday lives. These materials are fabricated into myriads of products with characteristics to match their various uses.
They work with metals, ceramics, plastics, semiconductors, and composites to create new materials which meet certain important mechanical, electrical, and chemical requirements. Materials engineers are responsible mainly for the selection, preparation and fabrication of many different kinds of materials: polymers, ceramics, organo-metallics, gels, glass, carbons, and traditional and new metals.
Working in diverse industries, Materials engineers aim to combine or modify materials in different better ways to improve the performance, durability and cost effectiveness of processes and products.
