Account Management Department
Firms in the advertising and public relations services industry manufacture advertisements for other companies & organizations, and design campaigns to promote diverse interests and image of their clients & customers. This advertising industry also includes the media representatives firms which sell advertising space for publications, television, radio, and the Internet; display advertisers whose businesses include creating and designing public display ads for use in shopping malls, on billboards, or in similar media; and the direct mail advertisers.
An organization that purchases the advertising time (or space) from media outlets, thereafter reselling it to the advertising agencies or individual companies directly, is considered a media buying agency. Divisions of companies which produce and place their own advertising are not considered part of this advertising industry.
Companies take advertising as an elegant way of boosting and enhancing the sales by increasing the public’s exposure to a product or service offered by them. Most companies do not have the staff with the required skills or experience to create effective advertisements. Again, many advertising campaigns are just temporary, so employers feel difficulty in maintaining their own advertising staff. Instead, companies generally prefer to solicit bids from the ad agencies to develop advertising for them. After winning an account, various different departments within an agency such as creative, media, production, and research, work together to meet the client’s goal of enhancing sales.
